You can trace your SQL statements by issuing
SET EXPLAIN ON
statement before executing the SQL statement. This makes informix to
write optimization messages to
$INFROMIXDIR/sqexpln directory. But you need to find another way to keep
track of the time passed by during the query execution. There is no time
stamp for optimization messages.
PS: these are all for Informix DS 7.23. Informix has added some more
information about optimization for version 7.3.
