The new Informix parallel loader has loaded over 100GB/hr on MPP and 30GB/hr on SMP. It does the translations of datatypes. Take a look at a paper at www.dbintellect.com for real life experience. >> >(2) They plan to query that data from about 30 region locations, >> >having "regional" data (50 GB per month each). Informix does provide connectivity to DB2/MVS via a DRDA gateway. This would allow you to join the Informix data with DB2/MVS. The joins/sorts will take place inside the Informix DSA engine and therefore exploit parallel processing. The distributed join will never be as fast as a local join.
