Thanks to all of you who responded to my original post. In
order to remove the annoying "Connected to database." messages
from dbaccess, you have to pipe stderr to /dev/null or some
other file.
For example:
echo "drop table $tabname" | dbaccess $dbname 2>/dev/null
>drop.log
will pretty much get rid of the connecting messages BUT all
other errors as well.
Request to Informix:
--------------------
Could you please put a switch on dbaccess to eliminate the
unnecessary chatter from stderr? There is a -q switch on
dbschema, could it also be done on dbaccess?
I am not trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, but it
would make my life easier.
