Additionally, some people (probably many people, but definitely including me) read c.d.i via the news/mail relay run by Walt Hultgren. I do not read other news groups regularly (often not even once a week). Since the proposed c.l.newera news group would probably not have the relay, I wouldn't read it. Probably no harm done -- I don't often answer NewEra questions anyway. But you'd be in danger of losing the people who do answer the NewEra questions if you split the news group. The question of splitting c.d.i has arisen a number of times over the last few years, and I've usually given an answer similar to this one. There has not been enough demand for the split to warrant the necessary net-bureaucratic stuff with formal CFDs and CFVs to get new news groups created. If there's the demand, then it will happen. Until then, it won't. There's no harm in suggesting it and seeing what the response is.
