ISQL vs. 4GL

Hi, is there any known performance difference between ISQL and a 4GL program? In our special case I want to do a major delete and insert between two servers connected by INET. I thought maybe a prepare cursor with 4GL could save me some time compared to plain SQL. TIA, Kai
