INet/PC 5.01 runs on top of WINSOCK 1.1, and therefore can run with any TCP/IP-stack that provides a WINSOCK.DLL. We are running INet/PC 5.01 successfully on top of both MS TCPIP32 and Novell Lan Workplace, using their respective WINSOCK implementations. To the original poster: Don't give up yet! Which version of INet/PC are you using? You won't have much luck with version 4.x, since it only supports a number of TCP/IP-stacks, and yours might not be among them. With 5.01, you should be running smoothly with any WINSOCK implementation.
