Re: long time to wait until "dbaccess - Database - Select" answers
Posted in 2007
I would like to reference the following;
http://www.iiug.org/forums/ids/index.cgi/noframes/read/10087
Check the following first;
tail /etc/netsvc.conf
#If the last line look like this?
hosts=local,bind
#Note: DO NOT do this if you are using IPv6 since changing from "bind"
to "bind4" disables the DNS support for IPv6. Since I don't have IPv6
on my network this doesn't cause me any issues.
#Change it to be this ;
hosts=local,bind4
All of my users come from locations that are in /etc/hosts so DNS
should not be used. I have noted that until changing to "bind4" a
DNS query is preformed and takes a long time. The DNS server is
Windows so I have
I have not come up with a different solution (am I not searching for
another at this point either).
Just so you can compare;
/etc> oslevel -s
5300-06-03-0732
/etc> oslevel -r
5300-06
Please let us know if this helps.
