CGI: Perl vs ESQL/C scalability on Linux

I am curious whether to write some CGI scripts in ESQL/C or in Perl. Personally I would rather use the CGI.pm with DBI/DBD. But what I am really concerned about scalability. I am aware of Perl modules like FastCGI. Is there some other method I can use for ESQL/C to keep from having to run a shell for each CGI request? I realize that my questions are kinda' vague. I just need to be pointed to the right place. Steve McAllister

I'd suggest Perl; it's easier to write and doesn't need compiling. ESQL/C will arguably be faster in operation, but much slower to implement. Since you're talking CGI, you're also talking web-time; Go Perl! > Personally I would rather use the CGI.pm with DBI/DBD. So, go ahead an use it. > But what I am really concerned about scalability. Fair enough. > I am aware of Perl modules like FastCGI. Plus Apache::DBI, and so on. > I realize that my questions are kinda' vague. I just need to be > pointed to the right place.
