INFORMIX HELP !!!

Hi Family, I am new in I4GL world..Our I4GL version is 4.10. I am facing some problem for run command. When I am trying to excute any shell script by run command then it makes my screen blank. I think newer version of I4GL has one utility which is form mode. Which does not make screen clear. But in 4.10 version is there any option to get rid of this problem ??? I also want to know how I could be able to interact with our Unix home dir. Means if I make any option which will let my user to put his/her own file name & if that same file name exist under the same dir then it will warn my user that same file is existising.. Is there any option ??? Any suggetion will be highly appreciated .... Regards Sandip Samanta
