If you are outgrowing the confines of VB, Delphi and Java, take a look at SuperNova ( http://www.supernova.com ). SN makes use of all the buzzwords (GUI, n-tier, web deployment, no-recompile portability) ...and it runs on all major platforms, including Linux.
