IDS 10 or 11 on Sun Enterprise T5240

We're currently running our OLTP system on IDS 10 on IBM x3850 hardware (4 no. dual-core Intel Xeon MP @ 3.16GHz). We're migrating to IDS 11.50.FC1, and had been considering moving to x3850 M2 servers, as they're easier to upgrade with expansion chassis, but have also started looking at Sun h/w. Broad question, but is anyone in the group running IDS on Sun Enterprise T5240 or similar servers using the UltraSparc T2 Plus processor, and could make any observations or recommendations as to their suitability? Cheers, Rob

I'm interested in hearing if you have a particular reason why you want to leave the x? My personal experiences of Sun have been dire, with some build quality issues I wouldn't expect in a corner-shop PC. But I do know that lots of people love them and I think IDS used to be developed on them for years. I suspect that most of the Sun fanbois should actually more properly call themselves Solaris fanbois. :o) -- Bye now, Obnoxio "There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense.
