Felix, I'm sure the entire community of 4GL users agrees with you. I was disappointed when release 6.0 of 4GL was unable to handle these SQL commands in-line. However, in most cases, the end-app is better off without them; if you are forced to PREPARE them once, your app will run faster than if you had used them right in line with your code. I'm just glad Informix didn't use this argument for the SELECT and other simple SQL. (Whew) I was more disappointed that release 6x did not allow program control of row positions in INPUT ARRAY - like NEXT FIELD s_arr[m].my_field. If I understand their policy correctly, they would like us all to start moving to NewEra. If they made a non-gui development package for dumb terminals, this might speed its acceptance. I'd like that; just about *any* Object Oriented language would enhance my resume! I just don't know if the NewEra language will directly compile "EXECUTE PROCEDURE" or allow row navigation in INPUT ARRAY. Bottom line: Don't hold your breath for dazzling new features in 4GL. I would loooove to be wrong on this issue. > Cheers L'Chaim yourself! -- -- Jake (Not turning blue any time soon, I hope) . . _..-'( )`-.._ ./'.
