When you are doing the split of the primary and BCV are you doing a onmode
-c block? You need to stop all activity in the database so that the spilit
will be consistent. This technique will work just fine for small or large
databases. We have two BCV sets one is split off nightly one weekly. The
instances are all 196GB. We split the devices off to separte machines,
for various reporting and testing purposes. You don't want to do you split
at a time with heavy load. Also what we have found best is to
onmode -c
onmode -c blocksplit BVC off
onmode -c unblock
Hope this helps

We are shutting down the database. The onmode -c should not be
necessary. The database would not even be open. Is there something
specific that is in the rootdbs raw slice pertaining to PVID of the
powerdisk. We are getting and assertion failure and it is pointing to
the AIX LVCB.
