informix user runs all system commands, and on the database server, and with no environment. Does informix have execute permission to the script? and does the script set the required environment? When the command fails, the login user is "root" (other user logins have been tried with the same results). Root has dbadmin authority. The files and directories are in place. Might there be any other situations that would create these errors? Lane O. Well that was clue enough. There /usr/informix/bin/ files that were owned by informix whereas they needed to be owned by root. Changing ownership of those files fixed the problem. Thanks Murray.
