I also monitored the available lock but it is also not touching You're hitting your long transaction high water mark - the reason it's happening when your logs are only half full is because your dba knows his job. To roll back, a transaction requires logs. If you wait until 80% and your transaction fails, you won't have enough logspace to roll back and your engine is toast until Informix dials in or you restore from tape. The solution to your problem would to add logs or turn off logging while you do the transaction if it's a one-shot kinda thing....
