Yeah, I got this. I also got it on /tmp, but other directories were OK. I ended up creating a symbolic link to /usr/informix from another directory which was accepted, and going from there. It did create some additional post installation issues, however. Specifically, there are a few files in $INFORMIXDIR, $INFORMIXDIR/etc /etc and /usr/lib that required massaging to get the symbolic link back out of the paths, but at least the installation proceeded OK.
