After the acquisition the product improved (cheetah is the greatest step), the investment is clearly there, the bug backlog was reduced, intermediate cumulative patches were introduced for common platforms, the features are customer driven, and only minor releases got to end of life... Less than the competitors I'd say. I believe the compatibility features available in Cheetah will be improved in future releases. Internally I can say I never felt so much enthusiasm in any release (been there for 9+ years). And I receive a lot of internal Viper info, but around July that same info came with a nice wild cat on it... Marketing... did we ever saw good marketing in Informix? Did it ever stopped customers from getting excellent return on their investment? I'm proud to work with it, for it, and specially with (very far away) the people behind it! I'm involved with a site migration from 7.31. When they started to think about it we had to kindly ask the partner to use 10.00 instead of 9.4. The delay on the project was so big that Cheetah appeared... Now they're back on the subject and the partner asked me to talk to the final customer and convince them of going to IDS 11...
