Help ! My client cannot access to remote IDS via TCP/IP

Can somebody help me ? I want to access an remote Informix dynamic Server (version 7.30, Linux 2.0.36) using TCP/IP and sockets. If it is the same machine, it is o.k., sockets are established and access is possible. It runs properly with shared memory too. But in the network I receive ERROR 908 and the message "ISAM-ERROR: record is locked". On the other hand, the network works properly: ping, telnet, nfs, rsh, rlogin usw. are runnig and I can see the sockets with "netstat -tuonc". Of Course I made all entries in the files /etc/hosts, /etc/services, /etc/ hosts.equiv, I set the Path and the Envirement INFORMIXDIR, INFORMIXSERVER usw. correctly and made in the file $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts the entry: mds_on onsoctcp katar mds_onservicewith katar = remote host with runnig IDS-Server, mds_on = Servername, mds_onservice corresponding with /etc/services: mds_onservice 1536/tcp. But when I try to access to IDS with dbaccess or isql, then I reseive the above error-message. When I start argus on the server-host katar then it makes differences when the IDS is down or online. The message - ISAM ERROR: record is locked - appears even when the server is down. I need tips and informations to solve this problem. It is very urgent.

You do not state the details of the client machine. Is it also Linux? If not does it support Sockets or only TLI (check the release notes)? I assume when you are showing the sqlhosts and /etc/services entries you have made those entries on both server and client, but it never hurts to mention the dumb stuff. On the server are you using the service (mds_onservice) for ONLY that one SERVERNAME/SERVERALIAS? Are you getting the -908 as user informix or only as other users? Just a bit more detail.
