Re: Licensing Question

Informix representatives recently visited our site regarding some 7.0 and New Era questions. We asked them this question and their response was: 1. Each sqlturbo process is considered one user. So, if I start 32 background processes on my HP terminal that access the database, I am now 32 users. 2. In a muli-database/multi-host environment, if I issue a query on one database that access other databases on other hosts, I am a user on each database. 3. Informix does not have any means of kicking excess users off, so it doesn't really make any difference. 4. Set the parameters to anything that works (within reason). Also, be sure to check you UNIX kernal parameters, such as the ones related to number of processes and semaphores. The database can crash hard if it cannot fork processes or capture semaphores.
