Dennis - I assume you are talking about the packets between client and server, in which case you should research the environment variable FET_BUF_SIZE. Set it equal on both client and server, probably between 4 and 8 K bytes. 8K was about the point of diminishing returns for us. The difference is staggering - I saw throughput increase by a factor of 5-30 IIRC. The defaults are apparently just awful. I think environment variables are discussed at the front of the SQL Reference guide.... We tried openlink a year or so ago, but it chewed up too much server CPU to deploy on a large scale, and didn't perform as well as INet with FET_BUF_SIZE as above. I couldn't get their tech support to call back, so we dropped it without further evaluation (especially once we convinced Informix they needed to quit charging for client INets). Things may have changed since then so YMMV. There seem to be a number of openlink fans out there, so maybe we were doing something wrong.
