Font problems running onperf in xfree86

Hi all! I wonder if someone has ever encontered this problem. IBM support doesn't know how to solve this. They are trying. I'm runnig onperf (9.21.FC4) on an DEC/COMPAQ/HP AlphaServer Tru64 Unix. On the console, onperf runs fine. If I use xfree86 on a PC (over cygwin) the labels of the axis on the graphs all come in an oriental font (japanese or something like that - sorry not to be able to recognise). The smaller labels appear in a good font and are legible. (image available if anyone is curious) Anyone has a hint?
