They developed good applications with 4GL and now many customers want NT servers! Its not the question of the technology - it is the question of the crazyness of the managers. And if you start now an new deveopment/porting of your excellent buisseness application to another tool, is the tool also there if will finish in 1 or 2 years? Can you invest this time and risc? What can you sell NOW? >4GL is a non GUI language. Else why did Informix create New Era? 4GL is not a GUI language! And that is very good. You write your (buissene) program - the button staff is done in the runtime-system! How many customers can replace all Terminal-Stations with (FAT) Windows-Clients just now? How to administrate 100 places with GUI-Applications - different versions/Graphic-cards...? >Think about it. (With more trouble than on UNIX - but out of the box).
