RE: Informix and linux :error 25588

The root chunk needs to be a file or raw device where you plan on putting your rootdbs. This will initially hold your physical and logical logs as well as the sysmaster database. The ownership on this as well as all other chunks needs to be infomix:informix. The permissions need to be 664. It is suggested you create a logical link to this file, and point to the logical link as your root chunk. This will allow you to move your rootdbs more easily later on. It is suggested that you move your physical and logical logs to different dbspaces as well as put all databases in dbspaces dedicated to holding data. It would probably help you alot if you read the Database Administration Guide.
