Rustine, I'm a newbie to informix too. But not a newbie to databases. You sound like a newbie to databases too. Informix can store a lot of stuff. It does not do anything that any other database cannot. There is nothing special in what informix stores. Storing a large amount of data is not a problem. You only have to plan for it. I'm not sure what else to say here. Does it interface well to the web ? It has java in it but I dont know any more. Does it have XML ? I dont think so. You can do XPath queries with Sql Server. If you're a fresh shop you might want to consider Sybase. Thanks, Jack
