Luis Carlos Diaz Otero asked how to query Informix SE 7.2 on Windows XP from MS Excel and which ODBC driver is needed. Art S. Kagel said third-party drivers cost money, while the free Informix Connect or Client SDK includes drivers and the SDK adds compiler libraries and headers. Rich suggested ADO with the ODBC driver or OLEDB provider from the Client SDK.

I need to query my database from MS Excel. I am using INFORMIX SE 7.2 on WINDOWS XP. How can i do it?. Where can i get the appropriate ODBC driver?. Do i need the whole CLIENT SDK?.

Several 3rd party ODBC drivers work with Informix or you can install the
Informix Connect for Windows instead. However, you have to pay for 3rd
party drivers while the Informix Client SDK is free (as is Informix Connect)
and contains all of Connect (it the drivers, runtime libraries, and message
files) plus the compiler libs and headers.

ADO plus either ODBC driver or OLEDB provider (install Client SDK).
