When our company was looking at RDBMS software, Oracle's sales staff gave us a "holier than thou" attitude, and spent a great deal of time ignoring us and quoting us absurdly high prices. When we finally made a decision (based more on performance than on price) to go with Informix, Oracle "woke up" and lowballed Informix's offer, but waited to do so until THE VERY DAY that we were signing the contracts with Informix. Needless to say, we told them where to go. - Tom Girsch
