upper/lower SQL string functions not supported?

I'm using "INFORMIX-OnLine Dynamic Server Version 7.12.UC2" as provided with Netscape's LiveWire Pro development package. I notice that the upper and lower SQL string functions give me a "674: Procedure (upper) not found." error. I want to use them like this: select * from testtable where upper(lastname) like upper('Linksvayer') so that I can do case-insensitive searches. Does Informix implement anything similar to upper and lower? Is there any other trick to doing case-insensitive searches and preserving case-sensitive data without creating extra same-case columns for fields I want to do case-insensitive searches on? -- Mike Linksvayer Just in Time Solutions, Inc.
