don't do onstat -z, that will zero out your metrics for the instance.
it's onmode -z

Thanks. But, it looks like its part of a bigger problem. My logical
logs are full?
Here is my onstat -m. Any help to bring the system out of full
recovery mode is appreciated!

13:18:06 Logical Log Files are Full -- Backup is Needed
=================================
It is a test machine, and so I tried to delete the logical logs. But
is says:
"This onparams operation is not supported during the transaction
cleanup phase of fast recovery."
I cannot shutdown the IDS, or do querying on the database!
What should I do?

Backup your logical logs? That might be 'ontape -a' unless you use
ON-Bar instead.
If it won't come back up despite that -- or because you can't get ontape
to run while the system is recovering, then contact IBM/Informix Tech
Support.
