Can any help on the follows error message.
After running the command
ALTER FRAGMENT ON TABLE tablename INIT IN dbspace
using ISQL (V6.05.UD1) on INFORMIX-OnLine(V7.20.UC5)
I receive the message
Unknown error message 875.
The table is altered correctly and all data is safely moved,
but I'd like to know what the error message means before trying it on my
live system.
Thanks

And while we're on the subject, Art, here's a couple more questions:
(1) Does this statement require an exclusive lock on the table (I assume
that it *does*)?
(2) Does it use as much log space as the unload/drop/re-create/load method?
(3) Is it done in one transaction (i.e., do we have to watch for long
transaction w/ large table)?
TIA

Art;
You have mentioned in a previous message that the statement
ALTER FRAGMENT ON TABLE tablename INIT IN dbspace
is a good way to consolidate the extents on a table. Before I try that
though, I wanted
to make sure that it would work in a specific case.
In a table defined as follows (in a database created in dbspace):
create table tbl(
a integer,b text in blobspace );
Will the ALTER FRAGMENT statement above work well here?
It won't transfer all of my blobs from the blobspace to the dbspace will it?

It probably means you installed I-SQL 6.05 after OnLine 7.20 and overwrote the
message files. The 6.05 message files would not contain the Version 7.20
messages, such as those pertaining to fragmentation. Positive number messages
are generally not errors; they are just the informational messages that display,
such as "5 row(s) found" or "Checkpoint completed." At a guess, 875 is
"Fragment altered."
But if you want to be sure (which I would, if I was about to alter a fragment on
a production system), try re-installing OnLine on your test machine and running
it again. Then let me know if I'm right ;-)
