Can I control the writing Logical LOG? I mean I have a large job and it will use up all my Logoical logs, so I would like to avoid writing log temporarilly for this job. Thanks, Quman
You can ALTER the table to RAW during the run. This will eliminate logging. Then once the job completes you alter the table back to STANDARD. Then, however, you'll have to take a level 0 archive immediately as you will not be able to recover the transactions to that point otherwise. Also it would be wise to take at least a level 2 archive immediately prior to the job run to establish a sane recovery state in case the engine crashes during the run. All in all, with all that extra work, it's better and faster and easier to just add more logical log space! Art S.
