Table Fragmentation

We are currently running Informix 7.1, and are more than a little disappointed with the 'improved' performance we were promised when migrating from Informix 6 to 7. We are now hoping that by implementing some of the new 7.1 features, we will at least get back to the same performance levels that we had with Informix 6. I am looking for ANYBODY who has implemented table fragmentation on ANY PLATFORM. I would like to hear of any pitfalls that I should try to avoid, and if the documented gains are real (I would hate to go through this excersive only to find no difference in performance).
