Are we the only one's out there using NewEra!!! This is call for NewEra progammer's or DBA's ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Mon, 20 May 1996 16:38:55 -0500 (CDT) From: Cheryl Kendricks <cherylk@prod1.jcdc.doleta.gov> To: ravivar@vnet.ibm.com Cc: informix-list@rmy.emory.edu Subject: Re: How to update table on a remote server from NEWERA Got this working via triggers and stored procedures (both DB must be in the same log mode). Our problem now is with using the connect function within a NewEra Application. This is what I understand about the "connect function" of NewEra, could someone PLEASE let me know if this information is correct and if you have done this: If you use INET you must make changes via your NewEra Program to specifiy the host, db and service to the "informix.ini" file. If you use an ODBC driver that has all servers defined then you do not have to "update/modifiy" the "informix.ini" in your NewEra Application. What's the purpose of the Informix/sqlhosts file on the PC side? Can I include REMOTE servers in there and then the Informix NewEra Programs do not have to modify the "informix.ini" file? Your answer on this topic would be greatly appreciated. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cheryl Kendricks Internet:cherylk@prod1.jcdc.doleta.gov OR cherylk@gwysmtp.jcdc.doleta.gov DTSI, Inc.
