The maximum number of logs depends on your page_size (see tbconfig.std)
for a 2K page its about 60 Logical logs. I would suggest that the number
of Logical logs you define depends on your application.
However, as the amount of space you assign to Logical logs depends
on the total size of dbspace dedicated to Online. You should
take into account that the amount of space assigned to Logical logs
(Logsize * No. of Logical logs) is ideally 3 times greater than the size
of your Physical Log. Also, the total size of the Logspace
(Physical Log + Logical logs) should be close on 20% of the dbspace
dedicated to Online.
At initial configuration your Logical logs and Physical logs are
created in root dbspace so therefore any sizing considerations
must allow for the Logs to fit in the root dbspace. Tuning your
Online system may later include moving the logs to a different
dbspace, perhaps to another disk. Moving Logs to a dbspace on
another disk reduces the amount of read/write activity in the
the root dbspace thus reducing the risk of losing critical data
in the event of a disk crash.
The above is a general approach to Logs containing the words
about/depends/should/perhaps which indicates that the exact fit
for your system will be the result of refinement.
