Re: correcting permission on Informix

Andrea, There are files in the $INFORMIXDIR/etc directory which tell what the ownerships and permissions on the Informix files should be. They are called onlinefiles (for the online instance), esqlfiles (for the esql related files), and so on. I just keep a hard copy of these files in case the permissions go haywire. We have had two power outages which when the systems came back up, the ownership and permissions had changed, so I know it can happen. Once you have these filelist files, it's easy to use the Unix commands of chown, and chmod to reset the corrupted file permissions/ownerships. Take care, Tracy W.
