Assuming you can identify the process in the onstat -u listing, you will see
the session id there. Next, working as user informix or root (UNIX) or as a
member of the informix-administrator (NT) issue
onmode -z sessionid
Don't try using kill from the UNIX command line. ESPECIALLY nasty kills
like -9.
If your hung session appears to be a server daemon process or a tape process
or monitor process, call Informix support and tread carefully.

But if you can't directly identify it, you need to work backwards from a ps
listing. Get the process number, run onstat -g ses, identify the line with
that process id (column 4) and get the session id from the first column.
Then you are away.
Oops - final thought - it may take a while for the onmode -z to work. If the
process has done a lot of work to get to where it is, then it may take a
long time for the implied rollback to take effect. So don't panic if it
doesn't disappear immediately. There will be flags in the onstat -u which
will make it clear that the process is being kicked off by the engine.
Once the process is gone as far as the engine is concerned, but if it's
still hanging around in the O/S because of O/S problems, THEN you may start
using more traditional UNIX techniques to get rid of it all together. But
don't rush in here...
Have you tried onmode -z <sessionid> ?
