Re: Advanced training??

I just got back from the Internal Architecture class (so now I can give a
reasonable
answer).
I thought the class was worthwhile. It was definitely byte level - you get
to be pretty
good at reading oncheck output. Most of the class was disk related, some
about
threads, and the rest of the o/s. However, you need to be pretty strong in
your
DBA skills - they assume that you've been using the engine quite a bit, and
know
what you're doing. The table of contents (as an idea what is covered):
Introduction
The Online Dynamic Server Page
DBspace Layout
Tablespaces: Part I
Index Architecture
Fragmented Tables and Indices
BLOBspace details (more gory details than I wanted)
The Dynamic Server thread
Shared Memory Details
Communications:Advanced Concepts
Archive and Log Backups
Logging Details
Recovery Details
Advanced Troubleshooting
Its very hands-on, lots of labs, and they only have the better instructors
teaching
it. If you can, I'd suggest taking it from Dan Geoppo - he's out of
Chicago.
