what happens is this:
fourgen keeps the detail information in an array. when you delete a row
from the detail section, it is removed from the array only. finally, when
you exit input and save the changes, lld_delete() is called to delete *all*
detail rows (that match the join criteria for the header/detail
relationship). then, all detail rows are reinserted. this caused us some
problems when we first started using fourgen, because some of our detail
tables had a serial column, and depended on the value.

Subject: [?]Fourgen:form:update:detail-lineitem-delete:4gl explanation

Greetings Net.Wisdom,
I am attempting to understand the 4gl that Fourgen generates in regard
to line item deletes in the detail section of a header-detail screen
when in the "update" option.
Specifically I am looking at lld_delete() (detail.4gl) and the sql
statement:
delete from det_table where join_fld = m_rec.join_fld
What vexes me is that when I run this statement in dbaccess (replacing
m_rec.join_fld with an actual value) this deletes all the rows meeting
this criteria; however, Fourgen 4gl manages to delete just the row that
was F2'd (line-item deleted).
Can someone please explain to me what I am failing to see and
understand? How is it that Fourgen is able to use the same function for
line-item deletes and record-deletes ("delete" from the ring menu)?
Much thanks!
