I tried to bring down the server using onmonitor , it gave the same message. "shared memory not initialized for INFORMIXSERVER" The way I solved this problem was to restart the server using onmonitor, then it gave message like ' recovering database .............' ( some similar wording I dont recall now) . Then I aborted that process immediately . Then I tried to bring down the server using onmonitor menu. It worked . Then I checked if the shared memory segments are cleared and restarted the server. -Gururaj
