On that support thing again

Relevant to much recent material about support etc ... Today I received a letter from Dr David Fulton, ex-Chairman of Fox Software. The intent is to calm developers and VARS about possible impending changes in the new world of Microsoft. I quote: "I really do understand the anxiety some of you feel. We've been a good team over the years; will this merger change that? I know many of you like that Fox is a smll company and pays close attention to what you say. Many of you have personal relationships with individuals at Fox. Will all this be lost? The answer is a resounding NO!" "I've spent enough time with the Microsoft people during the past few months to know the last thing they want is to lose that special realtionship that you have built up over the years. You will still be working with many of the same Fox people you have in the past. But you will also be develop new relationships. Microsoft recognizes that the database business is different than any of their other businesses - unlike spreadsheets and wordprocessing, even unlike languages. Developers and users require special attention, but that extra time and care is paid back ten-fold with dedicated customers, better products, and a great working environment." ".... If you have any questions or comments, we'd love to hear from you." I've always liked that company and it always starts at the top. They also are not delaying the impending release of FoxPro for UNIX. Everything is still on schedule and will stay out of the hands of SCO for the time being. Just thought this group would find this letter interesting in juxta-position to the Informix world. Fred -- W.
