RDS 4.1 + ESQL/C 5.0

Just a followup on my earlier question about mixing esql/c 5.0 code in with a custom runner for 4gl (rds 4.10) -- it doesn't work. The libraries don't get along together. Tech support's explanation was that 5.0 of 4gl was supposed to be released at the same time as esql/c 5.0 and online 5.0, but wasn't. Apparently nobody tested the combination (so much for precision release engineering :-{ or did and didn't document it). I'm surprised that I'm the first person to try to make a custom runner that uses esql, using the latest versions of both products... but apparently I am. I got them to send me (free, of course!) esql/c 4.1 which, after installing in a separate directory and fiddling with the cfglgo script, does work. -- Andrew Burt aburt@du.edu "But if he was dying he wouldn't bother to carve "Aaaaargh", he'd just say it."
