Data Replication - NIS (Yellow Pages) Problem on AIX

Hi, This is my first newsgroup query, please excuse my netiquettes. We have Informix 7.12UC1 on IBM RS6000 AIX 3.2.5. We were able to successfully implement data replication on our servers with the NIS or Yellow Pages turned off. We need to have the NIS turned on for our various other needs. That is where problem comes. Here is the rundown of the problem. When the NIS is on and when we have setup all the requirements properly (by the book) and when we try to turn on the DR we get a informix@pri_server not trusted online log message in secondary server and informix@sec_server not trusted message on primary server and the DR is turned off on both servers. We do have all our files properly - .rhosts,hosts.equiv, sqlhosts, etc/services. we are able to rlogin to the other servers without passwords (proof that .rhosts, hosts.equiv)are working. We were once able to go ahead and kill NIS and the DR started working and we are able to restart the NIS, but then we are not able to repeat the same. Now even if we kill NIS the 'not trusted' problem does not go away. We researched the problem further and found a way how we can disable the lookup of security files by putting the s=0,r=0 in options field of sqlhosts file and bounced online on both servers and guess what it didn't make any difference.
