Informix on Linux
Posted in 1997
Gang, The following survey was sent to me, and I'm posting it here as well as the linux-informix mailing list, so that we can get as broad a response as possible. Please celebrate with me in this momentus occasion. This is extremely important for everything we've talked about up to now. Tony and Informix are taking ownership of user requests such as Linux, so let's help them to make this happen. Carlton would like for you to CC: him when you respond with the instructions Tony Velcich has put in the survey. ( dbaresrc@xmission.com or carlton@iiug.org ) Thanks Tony, and Informix!!! I have passed this on to a number of Informix personnel to forward to various VARs. I was hoping that you could forward the questionnaire onto other individuals within the Informix User Group. Please have them complete the questionnaire and return it to me at their earliest convenience. My contact information is below: Thanks for your help, Tony ================================================================================== Linux Questionnaire: Please complete and return to: Tony Velcich Sr. Product Manager Informix Software, Inc. 4100 Bohannon Drive fax: (650) 926-1157 Menlo Park, CA 94025 email: tonyv@informix.com 1. What alternative database will you use if Linux support is not available? 6. Due to limitations in the Linux OS certain features may not be available (i.e., INFORMIX-Enterprise Command Center, Informix Storage Manager, Informix Enterprise Replication, SNMP, High Performance Loader, Onperf) would this be acceptable? Are there any other other features that can be eliminated? 7. What are the performance and usage requirements (i.e, transactions per second, number of users, size of database, etc.)? 8. What level of support would you require from Informix (i.e., 24x7, Openline, email only, none)? 9. Would you require regular maintenance releases for these products? How often? 10. Today Informix products will run if Linux is set to "compatibility mode," is that acceptable? If not, why not? 11. Other comments:
