What does the Query Plan look like? As well what is the fragmentation of the Table and the Index? If they both have many small extents I would expect a little preformance gain but not something worth writing home about unless you are taking millions of rows. I would ask for the Query Plan, and Schema(s) to see if anything jumps out. PDQ?
