Now, it worked okay before, and the early signs are good now too. From tbmonitor I can start the system and bring it online, but when I attempt to bring it offline again I get the normal (ha!) "There are no users except the DAEMONS and TBMONITOR." and a request for confirmation. Having said yes I want to do what I said I wanted to do, tbmonitor says: Must be user Informix to shutdown INFORMIX-OnLine. Cannot shutdown INFORMIX-OnLine. Now, that sounds reasonable - except that I *am* informix. Yes, I'm sure. I was informix enough to start the damn thing in the same login session - I should be informix emough to tear it down again shouldn't I? Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? Replies by mail please - I have enough groups to read. TIA, Brent +-Brent Summers, U of Waikato, NZ----------------------------------------+ | "Laugh and the world ignores you.
