Re: NCR/Informix/FourGen Versions

Dear Mr. Davids, This is rather strange. May I suggest that you call FourGen again and pose specific question such as has FourGen tested 5.1 FourGen Enterprise on your platform. You can refer to Informix bugs report to see why FourGen suggests using certain ONLINE and 4GL versions. (Some of these Informix bugs are reported by FourGen when they test new Informix versions) Reevaluate your goals and priorities and make choices. You certainly would not want to stand still, would you ?. To help you make decision ... Here are the questions. - Do you use I-ONLINE or I4GL for other purpose than FourGen ? - Have you looked at Informix Bug Report for your platforms (ONLINE, OS, 4GL)? - Ask FourGen whether or not they actually ported 5.1 on your platform ? Why FourGen only support certain Informix, OS versions ? Where can you read about these bugs ?. ( Well, one can only be sure about things one have done ) Ask yourself: - Can I try porting FourGen on Informix supported platforms ? Just ship FourGen 5.1 to me ! - Can I try porting FourGen on FourGen recommended platform ? Just ship Informix softwares to me ! - Hell, I don't have time for this mess...Hire an experienced consultant.
