What's incredible? The I4GL system recognises strictly the 4.10 syntax. You can get away with calling SPs in SELECT statements because it recognises them as functions and doesn't (mercifully) have a list of built-in function. Anything else that was not a part of 4.10 is not recognised by I4GL. Version 6 I4GL is only Version 4 I4GL with 6.00 connectivity; at one point, we considered selling it as "Version 4.12 I4GL for 6.00 Servers". It has no different understanding of the SQL statements, and has never been sold as having a different understanding of the SQL statements. >Considering that the || concatenation operator has been available in the >engine since 4.1 or so, I find it incredible that the 4GL 6.05 syntax >checker can't handle it. Concatenation was introduced in 5.00, and therefore was not part of 4.10 SQL. >Anyone know if this is a known bug? Or some outstanding feature request? It is not a bug.
