You will get native Informix connectivity for 4GL, esql/C-C++, or Java apps and odbc for any odbc enabled apps. If you need to develop, then install the iSDK which include iConnect plus the development tools and libraries for all of the above including ODBC development. For native Informix connections you just have to set up the INFORMIXDIR, INFORMIXSERVER, and LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variables in each user's environment (usually by creating a 'dot' script you can run in /etc/profile or which users can call from their .profile) and install a copy of the sqlhosts file in the $INFORMIXDIR/etc directory (or in another location specified by $INFORMIXSQLHOSTS) and making the required port entries into /etc/services. For ODBC just set up an appropriate .odbc.ini file in each user's home directory. Art S. Kagel > Thanks in adv. > > Regards, > Ruturaj
