Thanks: re - Online 5.02 problem

Thanks a lot for all those who responded to my call of crisis. The problem was with the way the raw device was linked and how it was referenced in the tbconfig.std file. I basically, trashed the original link (which was created using a dummy file called rootdbs in the /usr/informix dir) and created a new link (ie., ln /dev/vg00/rlvolxx /dev/rootdbs). This seemed to have carried the same permission rights that was originally assigned to the raw device. Once I reinitialized the engine with the new rootpath of /dev/rootdbs everything worked.
