Hello, my customer plan to update to latest version 12.10 because of ER problems in version 12.10.FC4. And uses SDS server for HA (no HDR nor RSS). Is it possible to perform this update/revert as simple engine stop with no transactions, direct INFORMIXDIR to new version, copy onconfig and restart engine on new version or there are some caveats like logical logs or some other disk structure changes? The same for possible reversion back to version FC4? I have tested between version 9 and 16 - no problem, but version FC4 is rather old. Thanks a lot ------------------------------ Milan ------------------------------
Hi Milan,
yes on first question, no on second - FC8, introducing Encryption-at-Rest, was the one introducing a new disk structure version, so some (minor) conversion will occur, and reversion (onmode -b) would be required to go back to FC4.
And, since you mentioned ER problems motivating this upgrade: the ER heaven of course is 14.10, but I guess that's known anyway ;-)

Andreas

Thank you, Andreas, so a little more tests before moving forward and possible revert. The motivation is to upgrade to 14.10.FC10W1 on new environment (from AIX to RHEL) with minimal downtime but they had troubles to get ER work stable on version 12.10.FC4 and need to be on more stable version. Reversion plan is for worst scenario if application on 12.10.FC16 challenge some severe problems as not tested there ------------------------------ Milan ------------------------------
