Which Client/Server product shall I use?

If I want to access many machine's(sites') independant On-line database from a client machine(SUN Sparc running solaris 2.5), and the client machine dosen't has any database running, and I want to concurrently connect to as many sites as I like without disconnect one before connect another. What's client/server product shall I use? Say, on the client machine, Jenny want to connect to a On-line database in Dalas, and Tom want to connect to a On-line database in Newyork and also one in London, in such case, how to configure the client and these servers?
